Fernando Gaviria gewinnt dritte Etappe des Giro de Italia und schlüpft ins Rosa Trikot


The Colombian rider beat Selig and Nizzolo on the finish line

Cagliari, 7 May 2017 – The Colombian rider Fernando Gaviria (Quick-Step Floors) won the 148km Tortolì-Cagliari second stage of the 100th Giro d’Italia. Rüdiger Selig (Bora – Hansgrohe) and Giacomo Nizzolo (Trek – Segafredo) finished second and third.

Thanks to the stage victory, Gaviria is the new race General Classification leader, wearing the Maglia Rosa.

2 – Rüdiger Selig (Bora – Hansgrohe) s.t.
3 – Giacomo Nizzolo (Trek – Segafredo) s.t.

The new race leader said: “It’s an enormous joy because of the work of the team. We wanted a win before the rest day, so we can enjoy the rest day tomorrow. All the teams knew there would be crosswinds. We were spot on at the front. My team mates‘ legs were very strong. They opened the gas. It’s a beautiful victory. I was feeling sorry for my team mates because my legs weren’t responding in the first two stage finishes. Now we have the win the team deserves.”
