Javier Guillén: “A wonderful start list”

Vuelta a España general director Javier Guillén is happy to announce that almost all the world’s best cyclists have entered the race set to kick off on August 23 in Jerez de la Frontera in the south of Spain and finish in Santiago de Compostela in the north west on September 14. In 2015, the event will celebrate its 80th anniversary but the 2014 Vuelta a España is already going to offer a spectacular show.

Meintjes takes 2nd on final Trentino stage, ends 5th on GC overall
The final stage of the Giro del Trentino came to it’s conclusion today with Team MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung having another spectacular day. Louis Meintjes, our South African champion, managed to out climb the likes of Bradley Wiggins (Sky) and Cadel Evans (BMC) to take 2nd place on the stage. Meintjes would only be beaten by Mikel Landa (Astana), finishing just 10 seconds behind the Spaniard. Franco Pellizotti (Androni-Giocattoli) was 3rd on the stage.

Drapac into third on Tour Down Under Team Classification

It was “mission accomplished” for Drapac Professional Cycling on Saturday in the queen stage of the Santos Tour Down Under moving into third overall on the Team Classification.

Stage 5 of the first UCI WorldTour event of the season saw the peloton race 151.5km between McLaren Vale and Willunga Hill with Drapac once again looking to make an impact against the top teams of the world.

Drapac up to fifth in Tour Down Under Team Classification

Drapac Professional Cycling continues to make an impact in their first WorldTour event, the Santos Tour Down Under. Stage 4 saw the peloton take on windy conditions between Unley and Victor Harbour with sprinter Jonathan Cantwell finishing 12th in the fast finish.

Cantwell was one of five Drapac riders to finish in the front group, moving the squad up to fifth in the Team Classification, 3:42 behind leaders BMC Racing Team. Twenty-three-year-old Robbie Hucker now sits 24th on General Classification, 1:18 in arrears of Cadel Evans (BMC Racing Team).
