DUMOULIN WINS STAGE 10 OF THE GIRO D’ITALIA
AND IS THE NEW MAGLIA ROSA
The Dutch rider beat Thomas and Jungels in the ITT
Montefalco, 16 May 2017 – The Dutch rider Tom Dumoulin (Team Sunweb) won the 39.8km Individual Time Trial, Foligno to Montefalco tenth stage of the 100th Giro d’Italia, the Sagrantino Stage. Geraint Thomas (Team Sky) and Bob Jungels (Quick-Step Floors) finished second and third.
Tom Dumoulin is the new race General Classification leader, wearing the Maglia Rosa.

1 – Tom Dumoulin (Team Sunweb) – 39.8km in 50’37”, average speed 47.178km/h
2 – Geraint Thomas (Team Sky) at 49″
3 – Bob Jungels (Quick-Step Floors) at 56″

2 – Nairo Quintana (Movistar Team) at 2’23“

Speaking seconds after the stage finish, the stage winner and new race leader Tom Dumoulin said: “Looking at the results I’ve had a good race. But I was fighting with myself and I actually didn’t feel good. In the last time trials I did I kind of gave up and I was disappointed afterwards. So today I never gave up. 2.23 is a nice gap to have before the mountains but I lost several minutes in one day at the Vuelta so I know by experience that the Giro is far from over.”
