Claudia Häusler im nächsten Jahr bei Argos-Shimano

The Team Argos-Shimano women’s team is pleased to announce that Claudia Häusler (GER) will join the team in 2014. With the arrival of Häusler, the team’s roster is now complete. Häusler, 27, is a world-class climber and GC rider. In her career she has won prestigious stage races such as the Giro Donne (2009), Tour de l’Aude (2009) and Iurreta-Emakumeen Bira (2010). In 2013 she raced for the US-based Team TIBCO, and finished third in the Giro Donne and fifth in the Holland Ladies Tour. Häusler said, “Of course as a rider you are always watching other teams, and one team I thought could be a good place for me was Team Argos-Shimano. I appreciate the team’s focus on helping riders develop in the sport. I have had good conversations with the team and I have a really good feeling about it, and that is important to me. I am looking forward to being back in Europe after my adventure in the United States. “As a stage race specialist, I will have as my major goal the Giro Donne, the biggest stage race in women’s cycling, and also the harder World Cups. I have had some difficult years recently, due to my studies and a hard crash in 2010, but I definitely want to repeat some of the successes I have had.” “We are happy that Claudia will be part of our team for the next two seasons,” said coach Ruud Verhagen (NED). “We started talking with her because we wanted to strengthen our roster with a climber. Claudia is a world-class climber, and we see a great natural fit with our team. Now, together with sprinter Kirsten Wild (NED) and our young talents, our team is complete for 2014.”

Kirsten Wild wins European Track Points Race Championships

„I am really happy with this win and I didn’t expect it,“ said new European Champion Kirsten. „I never have problems with the switch from the road to the track, but to win such a big race is still difficult. I knew I was in good shape, but you never know what to expect as a lot can happen in the points race. In the beginning I kept calm to save some energy as normally as a group always takes a lap, but this didn’t happen so I needed to change tactics and sprinted full out in the last two sprints, together with the other points this was enough to win. „It was very special to be on the podium and win this jersey. I have never been european champion so that is really nice. Tomorrow is the start of the omnium, this really gives a boost and I am looking forward to it.“
Kirsten, now European Champion, entered the race as one of the favourites and finished the job perfectly taking a well deserved win.
She now heads into the Omnium which will be decided on Sunday night.
