Tour des Fjords #5: Boasson Hagen wins final stage and overall GC

Superb team effort by Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka secures overall victory for Boasson Hagen
Edvald Boasson Hagen made it a hatrick of stage victories and won the final stage of the Tour des Fjords and with it, the overall general classification as well. Timo Roosen (LottoNL-Jumbo) was 2nd on the final stage and Jereon Meijers (Roompot) placed 3rd.

The final stage of the Tour des Fjords got underway in the pouring rain and cold but the racing got heated really early on. 4 riders got away in an early move but as the wind picked up, the peloton was forced into the gutter and the echelons formed. With 100km to go, the break was caught with the race splitting to pieces. Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka was relishing the tough conditions, keeping Boasson Hagen well placed up at the front.

Virtual Reality mit Eurosport VR: Spektakuläres 360°-Video zur Vuelta a España

Eurosport VR zeigt beeindruckende Aufnahmen – das erste 360°-Video im Radsport überhaupt. Das VR-Video wurde während der 10. Vuelta-Etappe in Zusammenarbeit mit Jaco Venter vom Team Dimension Data produziert, dessen Rad auf der 188 Kilometer langen Etappe von Lugones nach Lagos de Covadonga mit dem entsprechenden technischen Equipment ausgestattet wurde.

Wie fühlt es sich an bei einer großen Rundfahrt wie der Vuelta a España selbst im Sattel zu sitzen? Wie hektisch geht es im Peloton zu? Welche Blickwinkel hat ein Rennfahrer? All diese beeindruckenden Einblicke gibt es in spektakulärer 360° VR-Perspektive ab sofort in einem Highlight-Zusammenschnitt von Jaco Venters Ritt durchs Peloton in der Eurosport VR App zu sehen.

Eurosport VR ist eine Virtual Reality (VR) App, die zum Download für iOS, Android und Oculus Endgeräten verfügbar ist. Fans können die Videos via VR Brillen, über Samsung Gear VR oder anderen Lösungen wie Google Cardboard erleben.

Im Anhang befinden sich zwei Screenshots aus der Eurosport VR App zur freien, redaktionellen Verwendung.

Fans can support the team through the Qhubeka 5000 initiative
Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka will return to the Tour de France after a successful premiere 12 months ago, setting another massive milestone for African cycling. Once again the team will take to the start of the La Grand Boucle with clear objectives. Steve Cummings’ stage win on Mandela Day, Daniel Teklehaimanot’s days in the Polka Dot jersey and a fifth place in the overall team classification were the key results last year and are the signposts for our African Team’s goals for the 2016 edition of the race.

With less than two weeks left to the Grand Depart it is with great pleasure and excitement that we officially announce the 13 rider list from which the final 9 riders will be decided.

Santos Tour Down Under

Cameron Meyer eyes the overall GC
Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka will get its World Tour campaign underway at the season opening Santos Tour Down Under, which takes place from the 17-24 January in Adelaide, Australia.

After Cameron Meyer, Nathan Haas and Mark Renshaw got us off to a great start at the Australian National Road Champs last week, our African Team are motivated to make an impression at our first UCI World Tour event of 2016.

Once again the Santos Tour Down Under will get underway with the curtain raising People’s Choice Classic Criterium on Sunday 17 January. The stage race then officially gets underway on Tuesday the 19th, and ends after 6 stages on Sunday 24th. Stage 5 is expected to be the race defining stage as it ends with two ascents up Willunga Hill. The remaining 5 stages have options for both the opportunists and sprinters.

Am Mittwoch, beginnt die 60. Vuelta a Andalucia Ruta Ciclista Del Sol. Das spanische Etappenrennen wird das erste Rennen für viele der weltbesten Rennfahrer sein .Der zweimalige Titelverteidiger, Alejandro Valverde ( Movistar ) sowie Richie Porte (Sky Procycling ) und Bauke Mollema ( Belkin ) werden alle an der Startlinie für das 5-Tages- Etappenrennen sein.
