Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka execute team plan perfectly to win South African nationals Gold
The South African National Road Race Championships which took place in Wellington today, turned out to be the perfect race for Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka as Reinardt Janse van Rensburg was crowned the national elite champion and Stefan de Bod defended his u23 title. The duo crossed the line side by side after a well-executed team plan.

Our African Team started the 180km championship race as the marked favourites but we were confident that our depth in strength and a solid race tactic would be enough to come out on top. The race got off to just the start we had hoped, with a small group of 6 riders going clear from the peloton. We had Jacques Janse van Rensburg in the move, and the plan was to then have more of our troops ride across to the breakaway after the halfway point in the race. Die Dubai Tour erreichte ihren Abschluss heute mit einem Massensprint in der Innenstadt von Dubai. Marcel Kittel (Quickstep-Floors) gewann den Sieg vor Elia Viviani (Team Sky) und Riccardo Minali (Astana). Team Dimension Daten für Qhubeka’s Mark Cavendish auf Platz 4.

Nur eine kurze 124km lange Etappe in den Straßen von Dubai brachte die 4. Auflage der Dubai Tour zu Ende. Ein schneller Start verhinderte irgendwelche Ablenkungen von der Erlangung einer Lücke von irgendeiner Bedeutung, und so war ein letzter Königs-Sprint ausschlaggebend um die Etappe zu entscheiden.

Team Dimension Daten für Qhubeka hofften, die Tour auf eine hohe Note nach einer Reihe von Fehlschlägen in früheren Stadien der Veranstaltung beenden. Mit 11km noch zu fahren, zog unser afrikanischer Zug auf der linken Seite der Straße mit allen 8 Fahrern, um vom Kopf des Pelotons aus zu befehlen. Jay Thomson, Nic Dougall, Scott Thwaites, Ryan Gibbons und Bernhard Eisel hatten die Aufgabe, das Tempo von Reinardt Janse van Rensburg, Mark Renshaw und Mark Cavendish in einer guten Ausgangslage zu halten.

Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka place 4 riders in top 20 at World Championships
The 2016 UCI World Road Race Championships concluded today with the elite men’s 257km road race. Defending champion, Peter Sagan (Slovakia) was able to retain his crown and sprinted to victory just ahead of our very own Mark Cavendish and Tom Boonen (Belgium) placed 3rd.

Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka were proud to have no less than 16 riders take the start in Doha this morning, all ready to represent their respective nations. As racing got underway it was riders from our African Team that really lit up the race. Nic Dougall (South Africa) was joined by Natnael Berhane (Eritrea) in an attack after just 3km of racing. Our 2 African riders pulled 5 more riders away with them to form the break of the day.

As the lead group made its way up the Arabian Gulf, the peloton was happy to give them a good gap and the advantage blew out to just over 10 minutes rather quickly. Mark Cavendish’s Great Britain squad along with our Belorussian champion, Kanstantsin Siutsou controlled the gap from the front of the main bunch. It was a unique situation to have riders from our African Team really dictating the pace of the race from both ends.

As expected though the soaring temperatures and typical Qatari crosswinds would play a huge role in today’s race and the race defining moment came with still 175km to go. After a 80km trip up the Arabian Gulf, the main bunch turned back towards Doha and Great Britain and Belgium chose this exact moment to put the race into the gutter. Minutes later and the crosswinds had blown the race to pieces.

Dougall verteidigt den Titel der Tour de Boland

Am Freitag,wiederholte Nic Dougall des World Cycling Zentrums Afrika MTN Qhubeka Feeder-Team seinen Sieg von 2013 der Bestmed Tour de Boland gegen ein viel stärkeres Feld als im Vorjahr. Dougall der das offene 18km Zeitfahren von dem Berg River Dam nach Helshoogte in überzeugender Weise gewonnen hatte, beendete die Etappe auf Platz 7, 24 Sekunden Rückstand auf den Etappensieger Darren Lill (Team Cannondale -Mischung ). Die Leistung sicherte Dougall den Sieg über World Cycling Centre.Trainee Till Drobisch aus Namibia nach 45 Sekunden. Drobisch beendete auf dem zweiten Platz bei der Tour de Boland im Jahr 2013.
