Alexander Kristoff wins Stage 1, the Al Fahim Stage, of the Abu Dhabi Tour and takes the Red Jersey

Madinat Zayed, 21 February 2018 – The European road champion Alexander Kristoff (UAE Team Emirates) won the opening stage of the 2018 Abu Dhabi Tour, starting and finishing in Madinat Zayed (189km), in a bunch sprint and took the lead in the General Classification. On the podium he was rewarded with the first race leader’s Red Jersey, sponsored by Al Maryah Island, and also the points leader’s Green Jersey, sponsored by Emirates Post.

TOUR OF OMAN 2018: A MUST DO FOR KRISTOFF (UAE Team Emirates)

Alexander Kristoff showed again in the second part of 2017 that he is one of the best riders when it comes to sprints and one-day races, winning the European championships and claiming the silver medal at the Worlds, mere centimetres behind Peter Sagan. The former winner of Milan – Sanremo (2014) and Tour of Flanders (2015) is back into action with a new kit, after signing with UAE Team Emirates. And he’s determined to remind everyone that he is also a man of the Spring.

Who will be the best sprinter of the Tour of Oman?
Mark Cavendish is a good sprinter, he’s showed it many times. The level of the sprints will be high. But I’ve done good sprints here before (7 stage wins) so I hope that I’ll be among the best and that I can win again.
What are you looking for in the Tour of Oman?
It’s part of my build-up for the Classics. I’ve actually participated in every edition. I don’t know if many other people have been there every year… With Dubai and Abu Dhabi, I have like a Grand Tour here in the Middle-East. I know Cavendish is doing the same. I hope to start winning some races. And the main point is to build shape for the Classics.
What’s special about the Tour of Oman?
In Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the buildings are more modern, in Oman it’s classic oriental and I like it. When you think of Arabia, Oman is one of the countries that reflects that. And also the nature is more spectacular with the mountains. Normally, we always have a nice weather and a good race, so it will be nice!
You’re coming with your new team, UAE Team Emirates, after six years with Katusha…
Now I’m quite used to getting the new kit on. I feel good in the new team, with UAE. I had a really good time in Katusha for sure, there are many good guys. I’ve seen them again and they are my friends, but now I also get new friends from UAE and I feel like at home already.
How would you describe your role in the team?
I will be a captain for the sprints and classics. And then we have other captains for Ardennes classics and the Tours. The Classics are my big goal for the season. The first target will be Sanremo and then I want to be in top shape until Roubaix. The Tour will be my second big goal. I think we’ll split the team 50/50 with Dan Martin. He will need support as he goes for a good general classification.
The Tour of Oman is an opportunity to see how well you understand each other with your new teammates in the sprints. What do you expect ?
We’ve trained a bit for the sprints in the first training camp, where we were almost all together, but not during the last one. (Simone) Consonni was in Australia, (Filippo) Ganna was in Argentina ; we’ve been a little bit spread out. But we all know what we need to do and we just need to make a good plan before and try to execute it. My only issue is Consonni is quite small so I won’t get too much draft (laughs).

Positive Bilanz nach Rad-EM in Dänemark

Heute endeten die Rad-Europameisterschaften in Herning, Dänemark, mit dem Straßenrennen der Profis. Daniel Auer und Markus Eibegger konnten sich gegen die Übermacht von WorldTour-Profis gut in Szene setzen. Den EM-Titel sicherte sich im Massensprint der Norweger Alexander Kristoff. Silber und Bronze holten sich der Italiener Elia Viviani, zweifacher Etappensieger der diesjährigen Österreich Rundfahrt, und der Niederländer Moreno Hofland.

Das Straßenrennen der Elite-Fahrer lief über flache 241,2 Kilometer. Das Rennen entwickelte sich von Beginn an wie jene der Damen und U23-Fahrer: keine Fluchtgruppen konnten sich entscheidend lösen. Nach einigen Scharmützeln, unter anderem attackierten die Belgier, als der italienischen Sprintstar Elia Viviani seine Notdurft verrichten musste, kam es zum gefährlichen Massensprint. Auf dem letzten Kilometer ereigneten sich wie beim U23-Rennen, wo es gestern auch Lukas Schlemmer erwischt hatte, einige Massenstürze. Im Sprint ließ Kristoff seinen Gegnern keine Chance. „Daniel Auer und Markus Eibegger haben sich inmitten der WorldTour-Profis ordentlich geschlagen. Die Distanz von 240 Kilometer ist für sie auch nicht alltäglich“, beschrieb Nationaltrainer Franz Hartl die Leistungen der beiden ÖRV-Profis, die bei Felbermayr Simplon Wels unter Vertrag stehen. Daniel Auer kam mit dem Haupfeld ins Ziel und wurde 19., Markus Eibegger hatte als 65. 30 Sekunden Rückstand.

Sehr positive EM-Bilanz
„Die gesamten Europameisterschaften liefen für uns sehr gut. Ich kann mich nicht erinnern, dass wir jemals so viele Top-Ten-Platzierungen hatten“, analysiert Hartl, der in Bezug auf die vermeintliche Zeitfahrschwäche der Österreicher meint: „Wir haben immer gejammert, dass wir keine Zeitfahrnation sind. Und jetzt holen wir sechste und siebente Plätze bei den U23-Fahrern, Martina Ritter wird tolle Fünfte und Matthias Brändle schrammt mit Rang vier nur um Sekunden an einer Medaille vorbei!“

Am Freitag, den 04. August 2017 ist es soweit, der RSV Götting Bruckmühl e.V. lädt wieder mit einem beeindruckenden Starterfeld zur Bruckmühler Radsportnacht. Erstklassige Sprinter kommen direkt von der Tour de France nach Bruckmühl.

Bis ins Jahr 2009 war die Bruckmühler Radsport-Nacht ein Fixpunkt im deutschen Radsportkalender. Ein Spektakel für die Zuschauer, ein großes Event des Radsports, fest verankert in den Köpfen der nationalen und internationalen Profis, der Fans, des Vereines und der Bruckmühler Bürger. Nach einer 7-jährigen Pause ließ der RSV Götting-Bruckmühl das Radfest 2016 erstmals wiederaufleben.

„Ich freue mich, dass wir es auch dieses Jahr wieder geschafft haben, die Bruckmühler Radsport-Nacht durchführen zu können. Großer Dank gilt hier natürlich den Sponsoren, Partnern und Helfern. Das Starterfeld
Mit Rudi Selig steht ein Sprinter, der die Tour de France mit Bravour absolviert hat, in Bruckmühl am Start. Rudi konnte in dieser Saison mit zahlreichen Top-ten-Resultaten aufzeigen, beim 100. Giro ´d Italia musste er sich bei der 3. Etappe nur um Millimeter dem Etappensieg geschlagen geben. Ein weiterer Sprinter wird der Österreicher Marco Haller vom Team Katusha- Alpecin sein. Der Österreicher ist Edelhelfer des Norwegers Alexander Kristoff und führte ihn schon des Öfteren zum Sieg.
Daneben stellt das Team BORA – hansgrohe neben Michael Schwarzmann und Andreas Schillinger weitere Profis. Die restlichen Sprintasse werden wir noch vorstellen. Man darf also gespannt sein!

Das Radrennen in Frankfurt am 1.Mai hat eine schöne und traditionsreiche Geschichte und bietet den Radprofis einen Tag der harten Arbeit, besonders im Jahr 2017.

Erstmals bekam das schöne Rennen den World Tour Status und mit der französichen ASO einen prominenten (Mit-)Organisator.

Dies bewirkte eine erstklassige Besetzung mit 11 von 18 World Tour Teams und vielen Spitzenfahrern/Weltklassesprintern, allen voran WM Peter Sagan (BORA-hansgrohe), Marcel Kittel (Quickstep), dem DM Andre Greipel (Lotto-Soudal), den Lokalmatadoren John Degenkolb (TREK) und WM im Zeitfahren Tony Martin (Alpecin-Katusha) sowie dem Vorjahressieger Alexander Kristoff (Alpecin-Katusha).

Zusätzlich bot Petrus in 2017 besonders schwere Bedingungen für die Fahrer, pünktlich zum Start der Rennen begann der Dauerregen und die Temperaturen verweilten im einstelligen Bereich, am Feldberg waren es nur 4 Grad.

Dieses Wetter, der anspruchsvolle Kurs und das hohe Renntempo beim Einholen der obligatorischen frühen Ausreißergruppe forderten ihren Tribut, auch unter den Topfahrern, so mussten die nach einer Rennpause angetretenen Andre Greipel, Marcel Kittel und auch WM Peter Sagan notgedrungen auf das harte Finale des Rennens verzichten.

Dies war sicherlich auch ein ‚Verdienst‘ der Tempoarbeit von Alpecin-Katusha und TREK, die das Rennen für ihre tempo- und wetterfesten Kapitäne Kristoff und John Degenkolb schwer machen wollten.

MILANO-SANREMO: Es ist Zeit für „Den Frühling“

The first Monument Race of the year, now in its 108th edition, announces its Start List.
The race will be broadcast in 185 countries.

Milan, 17 March 2017 – The 108th edition of Milano-Sanremo, the first Monument Classic of the season, is set to take place tomorrow, starting in piazza Castello at 9.45 and finishing in Via Roma after 291km, with 200 riders representing 25 teams. Defending champion Arnaud Démare (FDJ), former winners John Degenkolb (Trek – Segafredo), Alexander Kristoff (Team Katusha Alpecin), Simon Gerrans (Orica – Scott), Mark Cavendish (Team Dimension Data) and Filippo Pozzato (Wilier Triestina – Selle Italia) are among the big names on the start list released today (see attachment) along with Olympic Champion Greg Van Avermaet (BMC Racing Team), World Champion Peter Sagan (Bora – Hansgrohe), and the in-form sprinters Fernando Gaviria (Quick-Step Floors), Elia Viviani (Team Sky), Nacer Bouhanni (Cofidis, Solutions Crédit), Michael Matthews (Team Sunweb) and Sonny Colbrelli (Bahrain – Merida).

TV COVERAGE
The 108th Milano-Sanremo NamedSport will be broadcast in 185 countries right across the five continents. The 2017 edition of the race will be shown live by 16 TV networks.
RAI, the WorldTour event’s host broadcaster, will produce three hours live coverage of the race, broadcasting it in Italy on Rai Sport + HD, with the final part live on Rai 2. Eurosport will show La Primavera live throughout the whole of Europe, with the exception of France where l’Equipe will air the race on its free-to-air channel. In Switzerland the race will be broadcast by SRG SSR and in Belgium by the French speaking channel RTBF.
In Asia, the exclusive live broadcast in Japan will be on DAZN, while in China the race will be broadcast on the Web TV Hysport. Eurosport will also broadcast the race in 15 territories across the Asia Pacific region, while in New Zealand the Milano-Sanremo NamedSport will be broadcast exclusively on Sky Sports.
OSN network is the right holders for the Middle East and Africa regions, while Kwese Sport will cover the SubSaharian Africa territories with the sole exception of South Africa, where the race will be broadcast live on Supersport.
The 2017 Milano-Sanremo NamedSport can be followed in the Americas on Fubo.TV in USA and Canada, on TDN in Mexico and Central America and on the ESPN network in South America and the Caribbeans.
SNTV – the Sports News Television platform will distribute images from the race all over the world.

World Road Race Championships: Silver for Mark Cavendish
Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka place 4 riders in top 20 at World Championships
The 2016 UCI World Road Race Championships concluded today with the elite men’s 257km road race. Defending champion, Peter Sagan (Slovakia) was able to retain his crown and sprinted to victory just ahead of our very own Mark Cavendish and Tom Boonen (Belgium) placed 3rd.

Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka were proud to have no less than 16 riders take the start in Doha this morning, all ready to represent their respective nations. As racing got underway it was riders from our African Team that really lit up the race. Nic Dougall (South Africa) was joined by Natnael Berhane (Eritrea) in an attack after just 3km of racing. Our 2 African riders pulled 5 more riders away with them to form the break of the day.

As the lead group made its way up the Arabian Gulf, the peloton was happy to give them a good gap and the advantage blew out to just over 10 minutes rather quickly. Mark Cavendish’s Great Britain squad along with our Belorussian champion, Kanstantsin Siutsou controlled the gap from the front of the main bunch. It was a unique situation to have riders from our African Team really dictating the pace of the race from both ends.

As expected though the soaring temperatures and typical Qatari crosswinds would play a huge role in today’s race and the race defining moment came with still 175km to go. After a 80km trip up the Arabian Gulf, the main bunch turned back towards Doha and Great Britain and Belgium chose this exact moment to put the race into the gutter. Minutes later and the crosswinds had blown the race to pieces.

Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka conclude dream Tour de France
Andre Greipel (Lotto-Soudal) won the final stage of the Tour de France, sprinting to victory on the Champs-Elysees ahead of Peter Sagan (Tinkoff) and Alexander Kristoff (Katusha). The overall victory went to Chris Froome (Team Sky), his 3rd Tour de France career win.

After an incredible 3 weeks of racing, Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka put in one final fantastic performance during today’s last stage. Daniel Teklehaimanot made sure our African Team was represented in the famous Champs-Elysees breakaway and when it was certain that they would be caught, Steve Cummings closed down any further attacks to ensure a sprint finish.

Edvald Boasson Hagen was our man for the final and he had Bernie Eisel and Reinardt Janse van Rensburg for support in the final 5km. Eisel, our road captain, did an exceptional job to deliver Boasson Hagen to the last kilometer in an excellent position. It was always going to be difficult to get one over on the big names, but Boasson Hagen did superbly to cross the line in 4th place with a fast finish. Janse van Rensburg also secured another top 10 result for our African Team, placing 10th.

Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka secure incredible 5th Le Tour win during #Qhubeka5000 challenge
Mark Cavendish made it another incredible day for Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka as he won stage 14 of the Tour de France. It was Cavendish’s 4th win of the Tour and our African Team’s 5th of the race this year. Alexander Kristoff (Katusha) finished 2nd and Peter Sagan (Tinkoff) placed 3rd.

The 208km from Montelimar to Villars-les-Dombes Parc des Oiseaux was always looked at as being a stage for the sprinters. It was a stage our sprint ace, Cavendish had targeted weeks ago and so our African Team’s plan was clear from early on in the stage. When 4 riders went clear in a breakaway attempt, Natnael Berhane went to the front of the peloton to control the gap.

The threat of crosswinds was constant throughout the day and so our African Team made sure to keep the gap under 4-minutes for the entire day while also keeping Cavendish protected at the head of the peloton. With 25km to go, Daniel Teklehaimanot and Serge Pauwels took over from Berhane and began upping the tempo with a precarious crosswind section coming up. The faster pace meant the breakaway was caught just inside 10km to go and a few riders then lost contact with the head of the race.

Cavendish and our Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka troops were perfectly positioned to execute our plan for the finale. Bernhard Eisel was flawless in piloting the boys up until 6km to go and then our South African, Reinardt Janse van Rensburg took over. For the final kilometer Cavendish had Boasson Hagen as his guardian right up until our Manxman fixed himself to the wheel of Marcel Kittel (Etixx-Quickstep).

Die Tour of Qatar sieht Cavendish nach Etappe 1 als Etappenführer.

Mark Cavendish eröffnet seine Saison mit einem Sieg der 1.Etappe der Tour of Qatar. Sacha Modolo (Lampre-Merida) wurde Zweiter und Andrea Guardini (Astana) Dritter.

Die Auftaktetappe der Tour of Qatar wurde heute zu einer mörderischen Start, denn eine Spitzengruppe von 21 Fahrern im starken Qatari Wind löste sich bereits nach 40 km zu fahren. Team Dimension Data für Qhubeka waren in einer großartigen Position und platzieren Mark Cavendish, Edvald Boasson Hagen und Tyler Farrar in der Spitzengruppe. Es gab eine Reihe von Favoriten in der ausgewählten Gruppe, Katusha mit 3 Teamkollegen um dort Alexander Kristoff zu unterstützen, während Greg van Avermaet (BMC), Sam Bennett (Bora-Argon), Andrea Guardini (Astana) und Sacha Modolo alle ein Teil dieser gefährlichen Spitzengruppe waren.

Cavendish und Co. fuhren so stark sie konnten, eröffneten einen Vorsprung von 1’20 „auf die Verfolger. Das Hauptfeld in der starken Spitzengruppe sah ferner eine Reihe von Abstürzen ihre Jagd behindern. Es dauerte nicht lange, bis aus 40 Fahrern wurden  21 an der Front . Die afrikanischen Teams waren an einem guten Platz mit 4 Fahrern in diesem Verfolgerhauptfeld.

Großes Finale für Team Vorarlberg – bei der Tour of Almaty nominiert das Team Astana mit Vuelta Sieger Fabio Aru einen aktuellen Top Star!

Das könnten noch ein harter Brocken werden für das Team Vorarlberg. Andererseits eine tolle Chance hier nochmals zu zeigen wie stark der eine oder andere Fahrer noch in Form ist. Allen voran Grischa Janorschke, sowie Clement Koretzky und auch der sprintfeste Vorarlberger Patrick Jäger wollen sich bei diesem UCI 1.1 Rennen alles andere als verstecken – Angriff ist die beste Verteidigung. Das hat in dieser Saison schon oft zum Erfolg geführt!
